About 6-7 months ago, I began validating the web pages at work as we made changes to them. We did some heavy work on cleaning up all of the errors and now all pages when they go live are valid. And so, I have started to see the benefit of validation. More browsers are happy :). We have seemed to get a better seo ranking on some of the terms we wanted to move up in. And the coders now find it easier to edit web pages.
So all in all, it has been well worth the few extra minutes spent up-front to make sure the pages are valid.
Now we are working on making HTMLCenter.com compliant with the 4.01 spec. About 35% as of this posting. Most of the issues are not in the template as those are now fixed, but with updating the hundreds of content pages across the site. It is actually fun cleaning up the pages as I have learned many new things about how HTML works.

I spoke with the team leads in my group about moving to DIV. It was an interesting initial conversation. Initially there was some shock about making the swtich. Many questions were asked and I believe I was able to soothe their fears about moving to DIV for layout. We will begin using DIV for new templates and also look at some training for my staff.
I will continue to post as the journey continues…

Well, I have had my nano for about 7 weeks now and I just love it. I had a mini before this, and a 1g 5 gb before that. It is amazing to think that in about 33% of the size of my first iPod, the Nano can do so much more. The battery is stronger than the Mini, the color screen is great. I can’t wait to travel overseas next year with it. It can easily fit in a shirt pocket without making any bulge ![]()
Anyone else have similar views on the Nano?

We are facing a dilemma at work… some of the outside coding firms we work with are using div for html layout. Should I begin to train my staff on this new method?
