Aug 18 Neat little Flash animations
Leprakawn posted a link in the HTMLCenter forums to a neat little Flash animation. The title of the Flash animation is “Animator vs. Animation”. It’s a cool animation postulating what it would be like if a character in a Flash animation were to come to life and start attacking the mouse pointer.
The creator also made a sequel called “Animator vs. Animation II”. This one is a bit more abstract and a lot more fun. In this animation, the character escapes the Flash window and fun ensues throughout the user’s desktop.
Aug 8 Fintan’s Technorati Tag Generator
I don’t think I’ve ever posted about this here, so I thought I would do so. If you blog regularly, then you are probably aware of the importance of Technorati. If you aren’t, then just trust me, you want your blog listed there. For those of us that are fairly ignorant of how things in the blogosphere work (like I am), I think Technorati is basically just a huge list of all blogs on the Internet. It works as a search engine, I believe, searching for specific keywords throughout blogs.
Jul 23 Become a Simpsons Character
![]()
I was visiting a local radio station’s Web site today to see if they had any publicity for one of our upcoming events. Needless to say, I got a little distracted.
I came across their “link of the day” from yesterday. That link leads to the Simpsons movie Web site. The page in particular is one where you can create your own Simpsons character. Similar to the way you can create a Mii on the Nintendo Wii, you can now create a Simpsons-type character of yourself.
Jul 17 Nice Alternative to Launchcast
For those of us that are still living in the dark ages, using Internet radio instead of plugging into our iPods 24/7, I have found a very nice alternative to Launchcast. The site is called “Pandora”, and they offer quite a bit more functionality and presentation than Launchcast does.
Within this blog entry, you will find a list of pros and cons for Pandora Radio as it compares to Yahoo!’s Internet Radio application.
Jul 10 A New (to Me) App From Google
Okay, so I realize that the application/tool is not actually new, but I just found out about it the other day. The tool I’m talking about is the Google Webmaster toolkit. I had never heard of this before the other day.
When I heard about it, I decided to see what they had in there. It’s not anything extremely fancy, but it is a nice little diagnostic tool. The tools help you make sure that your site is being indexed on Google, they rate your search engine ranking, they allow you to test robots.txt files and they allow you to add a sitemap for better indexing.
Mar 16 Check out CN’s SXSW Coverage
I am just back from Austin, Texas and the 2007 South by Southwest Interactive Festival. It plain rocked overall, check out all of my coverage on CenterNetworks.
Probably the best panels for this audience are:

Jan 12 HTMLCenter Relaunches!
Yes, HTMLCenter has relaunched with a new design and a new commitment to helping you with your web design and development questions. I thought it would be interesting to take a look back at where HTMLCenter has been over the last 10 years!
Nov 28 The Digg Effect (revisited)
Allen (of HTMLCenter) managed to make the frontpage over at Digg for three days in a row, with three different articles. In his latest article he reviews the Digg-effect in terms of traffic, but not solely on CenterNetworks but also on the services he reviewed in his over those three days.
To plug into Allen’s brain, follow this link:

Aug 15 invoicing online
When running your own business, invoicing on time is a critical need. Because once you have completed a project, you need to invoice your client - otherwise all the hard work on the project will not help you to pay rent and your other monthly expenses.
Discussing the invoicing issue with some of my (freelancing) friends, we initially did some research and came up with few very promising solutions.
The two that impressed us the most are Side Job Track and billQ. What is striking about both - they are free, as in free beer. Though with no guanrantees attached, they are both hosted and perform pretty solid.
During a short interview, Nick of billQ was kind enough to answer a couple questions about his service and the motivation. Enjoy!
