Is there no originality left in the world?

It seems that I am seeing more and more news and posts about plagiarized songs. You can’t go to the movie theaters and watch an original movie any more. With a few very rare exceptions (Metalocalypse, for one), television is a vast wasteland of unoriginal, uninspired ideas. Web sites (especially the news sites) all look the same nowadays.

With all this rehashing and regurgitating of ideas, why should logos be any exception? They’re not. Here are a few posts (anyone catch the irony in this post?) detailing some of the more aggregious logo copies (not all of them are actually ripoffs, but they still look strikingly similar):

Here are a few things I’ve noticed (I’m not saying that I’m the first, as I’m sure thousands of others have noticed the same thing; I’m just saying that I noticed them on my own without any prompts from outsiders) that look eerily similar:

Spiderman 3 and Playstation 3 (during the initial marketing for the PS3, they also used the “Batman Beyond” font for their slogan, which was something along the lines of “Play Beyond”):

The Fedora icon (as clipped by Sun’s VirtualBox, which makes it much more noticeable) and the Facebook Favorites Icon:

Fedora Facebook

What other logos have you noticed that look just like other, more popular logos?

I believe the feedburner logo looked a lot like one of the energy drinks – but i can’t remember which one – but it had a “flame” as their logo

Sony is the distributor of the Spider-Man movies, thus the same font is used on the PS3. To save money maybe?

Save money on Font ? lol ?

Well , I suppose your right , those font’s can be pretty pricey . It takes a whole team of computer tech’s at least a year to create a new one .

    Sorry but no . . .

They see that one font seems to work for advertisement and they re-use it , or it’s total lazi-ness !

And no, no originality exists anymore , not that there was a vast jar for us to pull ideas out of . It’s a fact we all must relies and accept : )
