Nintendo Battles Safety Concerns

Nintendo is now battling the concerns people have about weak wrist straps on their Wii remotes by issuing new safety warnings. I found the following message in my email inbox this afternoon:

I suppose it was only a matter of time before the complaints and controversy got to Nintendo. For some reason, this warning kind of reminds me of all the silly warnings you see on products like dish-washing detergent, bleach, floor cleaner, etc., telling you not to drink the product, even though the product is lemon-scented.

On a related note, I have heard rumors that the Australian Wii consoles, and some of the new European Wii remotes already have thicker wrist straps, as a result of the complaints that came from the Americas shortly after the console’s debut.

So the USA was the guinea pigs :)

  • It sure looks that way. Of course, that also means that we were the first ones to be able to get our hands on the Wii, so that’s the good side of that.
