YouTube EDU Launches

The other day, YouTube unveiled its newest creation: YouTube EDU. This new section of YouTube is intended to be a one-stop shop for educational videos; mostly lectures and presentations from college and university professors. The idea is similar to another new venture known as AcademicEarth and honestly reminds me of iTunes University (though the only proprietary software you have to have installed to use YouTube EDU is a Flash player).

The new YouTube EDU apparently offers branded channels upon request for institutions of higher learning. More information about the new venture can be found in the CollegeWebEditor blog.

  • Thanks to YouTube for launching YouTube EDU, a new section conglomerating free lectures from world class educational institutions like MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Yale and many more. YouTube really appears promising …… much better than many other sites offering Educational videos. YouTube Edu allows the browsers assort clips by school or number of views. The schools provide content ranging from full courses to campus events to information for future students.

Really glad to find YouTube embracing this free learning in order to help the future students.
